I'm so excited!': Pregnant Homeland star Claire Danes opens up about impending motherhood to Anderson Cooper

She is expecting her first child at the beginning of next year.
And pregnant Homeland star Claire Danes has opened up about impending motherhood for the first time to Anderson Cooper on his show Anderson Live, on Thursday.
The 33-year-old actress said she and her husband, actor Hugh Dancy, are 'very excited' about meeting their little one.

While Claire said that she knows their lives are going to change forever, she admitted that the couple are already smitten with the baby.
She said: 'There's no way of anticipating what that's going to mean for us but we are very excited. We are going to love this person, I know that.'
Claire grew up around little children but told Cooper that she doesn't have much experience with newborn babies.

'My mom ran a toddler school in our loft; I grew up in the city. So I grew up with one-and two-year-olds all throughout my childhood, and I know about early childhood development - that particular window I am pretty educated on,' she said.
'Anything before and after I might have some trouble.'
Claire, who showed off her baby bump in a beautiful blue shift dress, told the talk show host that she and Hugh - who married in 2009 - know the sex of the baby but have decided to keep it quiet.
Joking around: During the show Cooper also revealed that he went to the same high school as the actress and presented her with a mock-up prom photo of the pair

She added: 'It's important to keep a little something to ourselves because we are so public.'

Claire, who is nominated for a Primetime Emmy on Sunday for her role of CIA agent Carrie Mathison on Homeland, also compared being nominated for the award to being the popular kid in junior high.
'I am really so pleased that the show has been recognized in such a big way and so it will feel like a party with all of us there together,' she said.
'It kind of feels like in Junior High. This was the thing when I was in Junior High, where some guy would come up to you and say, "My friend wants to go out with you"
'And you'd be like, "But I don't know your friend." And they'd be like, "Well, you'll get to know him." So like you go out with him.'
During the show, Cooper also revealed that he went to the same high school as the actress and presented her with a mock-up prom photo of the pair.
'You and I actually went to the same high school. Which I did not realize. You are clearly much younger than me. I am 45, so we are like 14 years apart,' he said.
'...When the staff of the show found out that we both went to the same school they decided to mock up a picture of what it would look like if you and I had gone to the prom together.'
Claire and Hugh announced they were expecting their first child in July, with the pretty blonde star admitting that Homeland bosses made the decision not to write the pregnancy into her character Carrie's storylines in the show.
She said earlier this year: 'I’ve been pretty fortunate thus far. We’re in the middle of filming our second season and luckily we’ve been able to conceal it.
'But it’s now getting to the point where I’m looking a little knocked up. They haven’t written it in, but they’ll be able to manipulate it in post and do some CGI trickery and make Carrie not so pregnant.'
And Claire's pregnancy is also making it difficult for the actress to find a suitable evening gown for this weekend's Primetime Emmy Awards, at which is is nominated for Lead Actress for her role in Homeland.
She said of choosing a dress: 'It's just whatever fits seems really, very exciting. My standards maybe have dropped a little.'
Damian Lewis is also up for an Emmy for his role as Nicholas Brody in the programme, while the show itself is nominated for Outstanding Drama Series.
The Emmy Awards take place in Los Angeles on Sunday 23rd September.
